PROJECT BRIEF
SCOPE + STORYIt is a well-known fact that Corian® solid surface is an exceptional product for healthcare but not everyone knows that surfaceLAB™ can apply custom graphics to the surface of Corian® to create unique environments. One of these ways is a process that uses Dye Sublimation™ technology.
One of the earliest known applications of Dye Sublimation™ to solid surface was Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. And some of the first people in the world to use this process were Rick Wing and his team.
Dye Sublimation™ from surfaceLAB™ has proven to be an extremely durable, yet aesthetic option, for healthcare facilities like Massachusetts General, where maintenance is paramount. According to Susan Cronin-Jenkins, the Director of Construction Partners at MGH: “After ten years, these panels still look great and are holding up well. There are no visible issues with any ink fade, despite some of the areas getting direct sunlight exposure.” Further, she noted that even though the patient areas are cleaned, scrubbed, and sanitized several times a day, the printed surfaces haven’t degraded in any way.
