PROJECT

Westin Hotel

When the Westin Hotel and Convention Center in Pittsburgh underwent a comprehensive renovation, including the 6,500 square foot lobby, surfaceLAB™ was asked to provide one of the biggest features. The new design concept for the hotel included the use of natural elements and materials and the signature feature was a large illuminated walnut veneer wall behind the main lobby check-in pods.

For this project, surfaceLAB™ coordinated with the designers and contractors on just how the feature would be designed so that it could be shipped and installed on-site with little downtime to the lobby. Additionally, surfaceLAB™ coordinated the electrical installation of power modules required for the integral LED illumination. And once all of the units were fabricated, surfaceLAB™ traveled to Pittsburgh and did the installation as well.
