Avalon Reception Desk

AvalonBay was presented with the Backlight Images™ process by the architect as an option for their unique illuminated reception desk at their community in Ballard, Washington. After the graphics were submitted, surfaceLAB™ created the desk and Backlight Images™ feature almost entirely out of brown and translucent Corian®. The internally illuminated desk had another purpose; it was designed with an LED lighting system, allowing the desk to also serve as a lobby feature when not in use by being illuminated 24 hours per day for ten years without maintenance.
