Technologies

Rick Wing and surfaceLAB are synonymous with innovation. surfaceLAB has developed several unique, value-added techniques and processes that give designers new ways to use familiar materials, like solid surface.

TECHNIQUES

10 SPECIMENS
B.1 Surface Print

Using full-bleed, high-resolution graphics, we print large format images up to 6′ × 12′ in size. We can also thermoform the printed surface to create curved and contoured products.

B.2 Complex Thermoforming

Heat solid surface material and then cool it over a mold. Once cooled, the solid surface retains the shape of the mold.

B.3 Dye Sublimation

Also known as thermal transfer printing, we create an ink transfer plate of your digital graphic and then use heat and pressure to force the image directly into the solid surface substrate.

B.4 Illuminated Features

We create lighting designs, using curved and patterned surfaces to mold lighting into complex pathways and patterns.

B.5 Backlight Images

We use a patented process to recreate your photograph or graphical image in ¼″ translucent solid surface with crystal clear precision.

B.6 Colorfill Dry-Erase

Color-filled dry-erase finish for collaborative environments. Writable surfaces in any architectural form.

B.7 Sculpted Relief

We use CNC programming to carve your image into a solid surface with extremely precise detail.

B.8 Carved Panels

We use CNC programming to carve the pattern into a solid surface with extremely precise detail.

B.9 Dot Matrix

Utilizing imaging or patterns provided to us, we perforate materials with various sized holes to create grayscale imaging and patterns. No size limitations.

B.10 Lab Glass

A non-sacrificial, hydrophobic clear treatment that repels graffiti, dirt, and stains, and protects printed surfaces from UV degradation.
