Chrome Eggs

The goal of the renovation of the historic DeWitt Clinton Hotel into the Renaissance Albany Hotel was to blend the city’s rich history with modernism. The architects also wanted to pay homage to the historic Albany Performing Arts Center known as “The Egg”.

Project Details

Client: Renaissance Albany Hotel

Location: Albany, NY

Architect: Cauhaus Design

surfaceLAB™ was commissioned to help and provided design support that included 3D CAD modeling and collaboration on how to bring the concept of the “chrome egg” reception pods to life. Project management included coordinating machining, fiberglass work, and casework with several of surfaceLAB’s partner suppliers.

Solid surface from LG Hi-Macs was added to complete the work and task surfaces and surfaceLAB™ provided the LED lighting solution as the final touches that give them their glow and really makes them stand apart.
Now Albany has another new pair of “egg” landmarks and surfaceLAB™ has another satisfied client.
